Our community has grown a lot since we wrote our original terms of service. To get things up to date for the millions of people now using Instagram, we’re bringing you new versions of our Privacy Policy and Terms of Service.

Unfortunately, Instagram has determined that by using the service I am licensing them to use my photos (including metadata) in any way they see fit, including by selling them to a third party for advertising purposes. They’re also letting me know that they don’t need to identify an advertisement or sponsored message as such. Instagram, not cool. Unless this changes to an opt in program, I’m opting out of the service. Particularly as Flickr has released a new app that will do much the same thing I’ve enjoyed about Instagram, without all the nasty ickiness of privacy violations.
